Good Times
by Josh Ziegler
DINING OFFERS
December marks the launch of Good Times, a
dining & entertainment card and corresponding reference guide that
offers thousands of dollars worth of 2-for-1 and 50%-off discounts. Just
put the Good Times card in your wallet and enjoy loads of offers at
first-rate restaurants in Hong Kong.
Part of the proceeds raised through the
sale of Good Times are donated to non-profit and charitable
organizations. Last year’s beneficiaries included Operation Santa
Claus, the Fringe Club, YWCA, Matilda Children’s Foundation, the Sedan
Chair Race and many others. Alice Chan, CEO of The Society of Aids Care,
said “Good Times offers a win-win situation: donate to charity while
saving money! It is the true Hong Kong companion.”
Good Times offers over $14,000 worth of
savings to over 100 outlets in Lan Kwai Fong, SoHo, Wan Chai, Tsim Sha
Tsui and elsewhere. These top quality restaurants include many well
known favourites: California, Hong Kong Brew House, The Flying Pan, La
Bodega, Boca, Don Juan’s, Coyote, Caramba, Sukho Thai, Pad Thai,
DOZO!, Qing, Wooloomooloo, Wildfire, Brown, Bayside Brasserie and many
more.
“Good Times provides consumers with a
full year to save up to 50%, while trying new places and visiting
neighbourhood favourites,” said Good Times Chief Dealmeister Josh
Ziegler. “The book quickly pays for itself by using the membership
card only one or two times. What could be better than saving money,
eating great food, and helping charity at the same time?”
Available now in all major Hong Kong
bookshops. Or order online securely with any credit or debit card by

MEDIA ATTENTION
Going by the
Book
Some fund-raisers are going by the book. It's an idea common in most
overseas cities, and Josh Ziegler has brought it to Hong Kong. Put
together a book of discount coupons for restaurants and bars and sell it
to charity groups as a fund-raising tool. That's the idea behind The 123
Book. The numbers signify 1) save money, 2) help your community and 3)
eat, drink and enjoy.
The hospitality industry
veteran has just launched the first edition and his pocket-size booklet
gives you loads of offers at first-rate bistros and entertainment
venues. "It's something that's in over 200 cities in the US, Canada
and Australia already," Ziegler explains. During the recent
Operation Santa Claus, the campaign received 50% of the proceeds
of The 123 Book sales through OSC.
"Interestingly, there
seemed to be a cultural divide when I approached restaurants,"
Ziegler says. "The western outlets were familiar with the overseas
concept so they were quite willing to get involved, but local and
Chinese places wanted to see the book first." --

Keeps on
Giving
Here's a foodie gift that keeps on giving: The 123 Book contains coupons
offering two-for-one discounts at loads of restaurants throughout Hong
Kong until Nov. 30. Here's the good bit: 50% of the profit
from each book sold will be given to a number of Hong Kong charities. It
costs $288, but can save you thousands of dollars in the end.
