Eating Smoke author Chris Thrall is the subject of a fascinating new podcast on BFBS, the British Forces Broadcasting Service.

‘Coming Home: Chris Thrall’ is a feature-length story about addiction, redemption and recovery chronicling Royal Marine Chris Thrall’s journey from Royal Marine Commando to a crystal meth addicted gang member of the notorious Hong Kong Triads.
Chris joined the Royal Marines after a troubled start to life and the military was a great home initially but he soon found himself experimenting with hard drugs.
His hedonistic life quickly led to alienation with the forces and he found a new chance as a businessman in Hong Kong.

You can listen to the 48-minute programme online here. An extract from Chris’s book is also printed on the BFBS webpage.

Don’t forget you can also listen to the separate radio dramatisation of Eating Smoke at the RTHK website, where it is available as a podcast in three chapters. The dramatisation has just been reviewed by Ray Hecht.
