Andrew S. Guthrie was born in New York City, lived for most of his life in Boston, Massachusetts, and moved to Hong Kong in 2005.
While in the States he exhibited at the Boston Institute for Contemporary Art in 1996 and was awarded a Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship in Photography in 2003. His cultural history/artist edition of the 1960s by way of ten 45rpm singles, titled Broken Records: 1960–1969, is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York City.
